LOCK HAVEN – The Shippensburg University volleyball team was voted fourth in the 2022 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Preseason Coaches’ Poll released Thursday afternoon by the conference office.
The preseason coaches’ poll is selected by the PSAC’s coaches and was announced through the league’s social media channels. The conference does not allow coaches to vote for their own team in the preseason polls.
East Stroudsburg received four of the eight first-place votes and was picked atop the Eastern Division poll. Shepherd received three first-place votes and was picked second, and West Chester received one first-place vote and slots third.
Shippensburg has nine players returning from the 2021 roster, including two All-PSAC Eastern Division honorees. SU came up one game short of the postseason in 2021, ending its season with a 13-16 record. The Raiders have added six new freshmen and two transfers.
SU opens its 2022 season on Friday, Aug. 26 when it faces host Clarion and Palm Beach Atlantic at the Tony Banner Memorial Volleyball Tournament.
